classes + workshops
I have been involved with teaching since 1997. During college, I was a literacy tutor for elementary school students, developing literacy activities for individual student needs, and creating/presenting lesson plans for a unit on making your own comics with an entire class of fourth-graders. More recently, I spent a week in 2012 as a guest teacher and artist-in-residence at the BEAM camp in Strafford, New Hampshire. During that week I developed lesson plans and taught intensive classes in mail art and making your own superhero comics to campers aged 7-16.

As of October 2014, I am regularly teaching embroidery classes at gather here, a fabric, yarn, and fiber shop in Cambridge, MA. There is an embroidery basics class offered once monthly, and then a rotating schedule of other embroidery classes throughout the month. Best to peruse the class calendar for the current month & see what's still available.
I am also available for talks and workshops with adults. I have presented talks and led workshops on such topics as my own zine/comics history, affordable comics-making process, and mail art/correspondence. I have presented lectures to members of the general public, conducted workshops through Somerville Arts Council (Somerville, MA) and Papercut Zine Library (Cambridge, MA), and have spoken to student groups at Emerson College (Boston, MA) and Barnard College (New York, NY).
